“Inspiring imagination, sparking curiosity, and creating community”
Our Mission
Located next to City Hall, Wellman Public Library serves Wellman, Iowa and the surrounding communities; including communities in Washington, Iowa, Keokuk, and Johnson Counties. We welcome visitors from all over to come and join us at the library. We offer a variety of programs and love serving our community. Our mission is to provide access to information, community resources, and services. We work to provide opportunities for education exploration for all ages in a comfortable and welcoming space.

See what our Patrons have to say
“The Wellman Scofield Public Library is a treasure to our family. When we moved to Iowa a few years ago, connecting with the library was one of the best decisions we made. We have found community here. Our children anticipate each visit with delight.”
H. D.
“We especially love the summer reading program. My kids, who range in ages 4-12 years old, have held butterflies, met Wellman firefighters, drummed African drums, dug up a real fossil, flown a kite, made lasting friendships, and have been rewarded for a growing love of reading.”
W. C.
“Moving to Wellman less than a year ago (from a town without a library) I have come to depend on the library. I am a senior citizen without transportation. An avid reader, I maintain my the love of learning. The staff and patrons of the library have welcomed me into the community.”
L. D.
