We participate in a great program here at WSPL that we’d like to tell you about. 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a national campaign that encourages parents to read to their children to encourage a life long love of reading as well as expanding their world before they even reach Kindergarten. If you just read as little as 3 books to your child a day, you will have read them over 1,000 books in less than a year! Normally, we ask parents to stop by the library and sign their child up for the program but since the library is currently closed, we just ask that you send us a quick email at wellmanlib@gmail.com with your name and your child’s name and age. We will respond to your email with a printable reading log and you can start logging books that day! When you reach 100 books, if we are still closed, send us an email letting us know and we will record that and set aside a prize for when we do open and email you a certificate as well as your next reading log. Its that easy!
