Library Happenings

We had another fun week during our Summer Reading Program! On Tuesday, the Blank Park Zoo visited the library, bringing several animals along. We had almost 175 people squeezed our room next door. That was easily the most people we have ever fit over there! If you’ve attended an event on the East side of our library and wondered what in the world that space is, I’ll take a moment to fill you in. The space next door (previously the Senior Dining Center) was appointed for library use about a year ago. Once we finish fundraising, it will be part of our newer, bigger, better library. For more information on the project or to donate, head over to our Renovations Project page! We are happy we have this space to use during the summer months (and year round really!) as we could never put on our large programs without it. But we are really looking forward to the future when we have a large program room right in our library!

On Thursday, we had another Space Walk Storytime at North Park! We lucked out again with the weather and enjoyed sunshine and a cool breeze! The kids traveled around the park to hear 3 different stories and then gathered in the shelter house to make their own astronaut helmet mask! On Friday, we started off with our weekly Toddler Time story time. During the afternoon we had our DIY craft kit pick up and the Wellman YMCA hosted a chess program here.

Next week will be mostly quiet here at the library while the Washington County Fair is going on. But on Friday we are hosting a Barbie Birthday Party to celebrate Barbie turning 60 this year! If you haven’t signed up yet, there are still a few spots open if you call ASAP.
