We received some exciting news from Bridges today! They are now offering magazines for online checkout. Below is a message from Bridges regarding the change. You will need the 5 digit portion of your library card that begins with the #9 to log in. You will be able to access magazines from OverDrive, Libby and through our website. Bridges is excited to introduce magazine checkouts for patrons. The new feature has already had 432 magazines accessed by patrons in the first day it was available. The feature will be available for a year; staff will gauge patron interest and useage to determine if it should become a permanent feature of the eLibrary.
Magazines are currently available on Bridges as a special collection through both the OverDrive and Libby app, and on library websites in the browser (via OverDrive Read). They have no wait lists or holds, do not count towards checkout limits, and provide readers the option to renew their selections. Readers can also download magazines on Libby for offline use.
This pilot was made possible through federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The collection budget was not affected by this program.
