The Wellman-Scofield Public Library is one of only 18 small libraries in Iowa to be chosen to participate in the Iowa Arts Learning in Libraries Initiative (ALLI) program. This program, a partnership between the State Library of Iowa and the Iowa Arts Council, was made possible through a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The goal of ALLI is to partner local arts organizations with rural public libraries to engage older adults with participatory, skill-based arts programs that meet creative, cognitive and social needs.
The FREE professionally-taught classes are offered to patrons 55+ and will be held in March – May. Please stop by the Library to pick up a questionnaire to let us know what kind of class you would like. Jewelry making, collage, card making, up-cycling materials, book bag decorating, storytelling? What day and time is most convenient? Mornings or afternoons?
“We are excited to offer this program to the older adults in our community,” said Carol Wilkins, Library Director. “We hope they enjoy working their creative muscles in a fun group setting.
